Baby crib with a clear sleeping surface

Find out what your accommodation offers

Ask whether a crib or play yard is available, what model it is and whether it can be confirmed for your stay. If you rent separately, check that the room has enough space and that delivery and collection are permitted.

Ask about the exact sleep product

Request the model name, assembled dimensions, manufacturer limits and included mattress or pad. Confirm that all parts and instructions are present. Do not substitute a mattress or add extra padding unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it.

Keep the sleep space simple

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends placing babies on their backs on a firm, flat sleep surface with a fitted sheet. Keep pillows, blankets, toys and other soft items out of the sleep area. Review current guidance at HealthyChildren.org and discuss individual concerns with your pediatrician.

Plan the handoff

  • Confirm who will assemble the equipment and provide instructions.
  • Ask how the sleep product is cleaned and checked for recalls.
  • Arrange delivery before your child's usual bedtime where possible.
  • Confirm the sheet size and whether a fitted sheet is included.
  • Inspect the frame, locks and mattress fit before use.

Bring the routine, not the whole nursery

Familiar bedtime songs and your usual sequence of feeding and settling can help maintain a routine. Keep comfort items outside an infant's sleep space. Travel advice does not replace current manufacturer instructions or medical guidance.
